Feed handlers

Feed handlers are how the Relay connects to external realtime sources. In 3forge Enterprise their configuration moved out of properties and into a watched file.

Inline Definitions Are Deprecated

Inline property definitions of feed handlers (ami.relay.fh.*) are deprecated; using them logs a warning on startup. Convert each to a line in the watched file data/relay.feedhandlers.

Defining a Feed Handler

One feed handler per line. Refer to plugins by alias, not class name, when defining the PluginClass parameter (see Plugins):

emea_kafka;KAFKA;true;bootstrap.servers=k1:9092\,k2:9092,topics=trades,group.id=ami

The file is watched, so changes reload during runtime.

Escaping commas inside a value

Fields are comma-delimited, so a comma within a value (for example a multi-broker bootstrap.servers list) must be escaped with a backslash: k1:9092\,k2:9092.

Managing Feed Handlers at Runtime

Feed handlers can also be managed at runtime through the F1 console:

  • addFeedhandler
  • updateFeedhandlerOptions
  • removeFeedhandler

These are also exposed as MCP tools (for example relay_addFeedhandler) when the MCP server is enabled.
