What is 3forge Enterprise?¶
3forge Enterprise is a data fabric for building, connecting, and operating data-intensive applications. It brings realtime and historical data access, processing, business logic, application development, AI, and operational controls into a single governed environment.
Rather than requiring each application to assemble its own connectivity, state management, processing, security, and operational infrastructure, 3forge provides these capabilities as shared services. Data can remain in existing systems where appropriate while becoming available through governed queries, streams, APIs, and application interfaces.
In 3forge Enterprise, the data fabric is the set of components (the Center, Relay, Web, and Gateway) running in the AmiCore runtime, which gives them one deployment, security, connectivity, and monitoring foundation.
The result is a common foundation on which teams can connect data, build applications and workflows, provide governed access to external tools and AI agents, and operate those workloads in production.
Why a Data Fabric¶
Enterprise platforms must now serve a much broader range of consumers: data is no longer accessed primarily by people using reports and applications. It is also consumed continuously by services, models, agents, and automated workflows, each with different access patterns and performance requirements. This creates 4 closely connected challenges:
- Make realtime and historical data available through a consistent operating model.
- Find a sustainable way to move AI-enabled applications from prototypes into production.
- Extend governance beyond users and databases to include applications, services, and autonomous agents.
- Reduce the distance between data, decisions, and execution.
Solving each independently tends to create complexity where the solutions meet. The underlying requirement is broader: a shared foundation through which data can be accessed, logic applied, applications built, and actions governed. 3forge Enterprise is designed to provide that foundation and to connect to an existing technology estate rather than replace it. New capabilities connect to existing systems, move into production without being rebuilt, and operate within the same standards of governance, resilience, and transparency as the rest of the enterprise.
The AmiCore Runtime¶
The platform runs within AmiCore, the governed runtime container that provides the common deployment, security, connectivity, and monitoring foundation for 3forge components. AmiCore packages the full platform, an in-memory database, a data-integration layer, and a visualization server, into a single container.
The runtime ships as one consolidated library with a fixed classpath (./resources:lib/amicore.jar). Connectivity and optional capabilities are added as plugins, each loaded in its own isolated classloader. One AmiCore JVM can run an unlimited number of components, combined and distributed according to the requirements of each application and deployment.

Components at a Glance¶
3forge Enterprise consists of components and interfaces that work together across runtime management, data connectivity, processing, distribution, application delivery, operations, and engineering. Each is summarized below and covered in full under Components.
| Component | Purpose |
|---|---|
| AmiCore | The governed runtime container: deployment, RBAC, authentication, file-system and port access, plugins, REST, MCP, JDBC, and monitoring. |
| Relay | Data ingestion. Reliable connectivity to realtime feeds: message transformation and routing, guaranteed messaging, store-and-forward, and horizontal scaling of ingestion. |
| Center | Data virtualization and publication through an in-memory SQL database, historical SQL store, and complex-event-processing engine, with persistence and replication. |
| Gateway | Governed distribution of realtime subscriptions and map/reduce querying across distributed Centers. |
| Web | Live user interfaces, workflows, and reporting, plus the integrated Workbench development environment; hosts the AI assistant and the REST/MCP surface. |
| WebManager | Horizontal scaling and centralized management of user profiles and dashboards across many Web instances. |
| WebBalancer | Horizontal scaling of live user sessions across available Web instances. |
| Operations Hub | Centralized health and usage telemetry from registered AmiCore instances, with version and license management, remote monitoring, and reporting. |
| AI Development Kit | The MCP plugin, skills, specialized development agents, and the Chatbot used for AI-assisted 3forge development. |
| IDE plugin | Brings 3forge development into familiar IDEs with governed MCP access to live runtime context, schemas, and tools. |
| Python interface | Governed programmatic access to query, subscribe to, and publish data through the fabric. |
| ODBC & Excel RTD | Secure access for ODBC-compatible platforms and realtime streaming into Excel through RTD. |
Why Choose 3forge¶
- One foundation from data to application. Connectivity, processing, state, business logic, user interfaces, and production operations operate within the same environment.
- Governed access to existing data. Realtime and historical data is reachable through shared queries, subscriptions, APIs, and application interfaces while preserving authentication, entitlements, and audit controls.
- Reusable infrastructure. Connections, transformations, business logic, state, entitlements, and operational patterns are reused across applications rather than recreated per project.
- Built for realtime and historical workloads. Designed for applications combining high-volume live data, persistent historical context, event processing, and interactive UIs.
- Production reliability and scale. Replication, persistence, guaranteed messaging, horizontal scaling, distributed processing, and centralized monitoring support mission-critical deployments.
- Multiple consumption models. The same fabric serves 3forge applications, external services, Python, SQL and ODBC clients, Excel, BI platforms, and AI agents.
- Governed AI access and development. AI assistants and development tools interact with live data and applications through controlled interfaces rather than a separate path around enterprise governance.
- Incremental adoption. Virtualize existing systems, distribute data to external applications, or provide the full application runtime, introduced where it creates value without an enterprise-wide migration.
Typical Use Cases¶
3forge Enterprise is used where data integration, realtime state, business logic, and user interaction need to operate together:
- Realtime risk, exposure, and portfolio monitoring
- Trading and market-data applications
- Operational monitoring and exception management
- Order, execution, and transaction analysis
- Reconciliation and control workflows
- Regulatory and management reporting
- Data virtualization and governed enterprise data access
- Realtime and historical analytics
- Workflow and process automation
- AI-enabled applications and governed agent access
- Modernization of spreadsheet, desktop, and legacy application workflows
The same fabric supports applications built directly in 3forge as well as external applications that consume its data and services. Teams can start with a specific workflow while establishing connectivity, data models, business logic, controls, and operational services that later applications reuse.
